*Dal couldn't help but chuckle at honored brothers interest in the meditation room and it's uses.*
"Hehe... Oh typical monk, we are two of a kind more than you know. No drummers, though if you feel that is an effective technique I may give it a try. Perhaps you would care to share your wisdom and act as a guest meditation instructor before your stay ends.
My warriors are to understand freedom perfectly, so that they may know how valuable and delicate it is, that they may better protect it for the sake of others.
As I always like to say, the only person that decides your freedom is yourself. As such after their first instructions my students are encouraged to self guide. Focus, strength, and understanding are the keys to understanding that true freedom. Or in other words, mind, body and soul. Perhaps... *His eyes flicked over to mild magma briefly.* you or your student would like to tell me how you think those traits could lead to true freedom?
Before you answer that on to your other questions I must point out your interpretation of what is natural and the uneven lines you seem to have drawn in making exceptions. I do not wish to offend brother... but what you are saying is that you had to artificially augment your state of mind with drugs just to achieve what comes naturally to me?"
*Dal smirked, hardly able to help being amused that the contradiction he had pointed out was also somewhat belittling.*
"My apologies, I don't which to lessen the magnificent achievement on your part, but there are many things that we must accept as natural in our world, and we often need help expanding our minds to fully understand them. Have you never stopped to think that why wouldn't the greatest of gods have his own chosen few, and if that were possible, then why couldn't the moon and the maidens have theirs? Exaltation is virtually as old as creation itself, and the fact that Solar exaltation has been interrupted for the last fifteen hundred years only now to return to what is natural."
* At this point Dal was feeling a little mixed about having to explain so many different things, and answer several very separate questions all in the same dialogue, he heaved a deep breath and continued.*
Now on to the subject of my past incarnation I shall simply have to say that is not exactly the case, it is the essence... Solars are imbued with the same essence passed down from generations of other exalted Solars. No doubt you have met Sentinel our Empires interactive... essence... imprint, thingy. Whatever the case powerful essences can often leave a mark on the world around them, and in other essence it comes in contact with. As solar exalted we often are left with memories and powers left imprinted on the essence we are given upon exaltation...
I guess you could say Cho-Hi-Xo is my Sentinel... Just in my head. A sort of construct that exists as the extension of my own memories, he is not a soul trapped within me, but an echo as you say of who I was."
*Dal stopped and scratched his head, a creeping sense of reluctance ebbed up on him as he wondered how next Brother was going to misinterpret his words or find a way to see something he had just said in a negative light as was becoming the running theme.*

* Honored Brother smirked slightly, then gave a nod. Like always, his years of study of the immaculate texts. He brought his hands up into a prayer position and held it there as he spoke, smiling slightly as he did*
" Alright, I will withhold my answer of what freedom is and answer your question of what 'natural' is.
Very true, my people do not practice the bulb of the perfected lotus naturally. But we can do it after months and months of hard work, sweat, tears and mind warping ordeals... and our reward for our hard work is celestial martial arts.
We have proven to The Dragons that we have the discipline to wield such great power, and that is why we are rewarded with it.
It is very impressive, however, that you are naturally able to practice the arts of the bulb... But have not demons of both the second and third circle the ability to practice the same arts naturally?
I am not implying that you are truly demons... As a matter of fact, I am beginning to believe what you are saying, as there is enough evidence I have seen to back up your claims."
* He brought his hands apart and held them as if he were holding something in each of them*
" So that brings me to the conclusion that either everything you say is true and all this time has just been misunderstanding and superstition.."
* He moved one hand up and down slightly, then stopped as he continued his point*
" Or... there is a great deal of validity to the stories they tell all over creation of your people, though not necessarily as demons or monsters... but beings who did very little to deserve such vast amounts of power, and thus do not have the discipline to use such power without destroying everything around them... or falling to corruption."
* He moved the other hand up and down as he posed the other argument, then brought his hands back together and lowered them to his sides*
" Of course, I mean no disrespect... I just want to find the truth."
* he brought his left hand back up to pat his left cheek, then nodded as an answer came to him.*
" True freedom is the ability to do or experience what you like, knowing full well that they will not be harmed or hindered by others, but can not harm or hinder anyone in return.
Some might say that imposed rules hinder freedom.. but otherwise is chaos... and in chaos, we are all slaves."
* Mild Magma moved to say something, but was quickly nudged by Honored Brother, who knew what he was going t say would be inappropriate."

*Dal grinned, happy to see his debate had rendered positive results and perhaps it was time to share something very personal about his own life to put it all in perspective for the Dragons.*
"Whatever you decide to believe here and now, I have confidence and faith that you will witness for yourself nothing to contradict any of my statements here. But... If you would want to know what earned me this power..."
*Dal looked down for a moment, a shadow creeping down his face as it was turned away from the light. He looked back up seeming to have come to terms with whatever he was thinking about.*
"I have only recently become open about my past, but perhaps this will offer you some reference point. I was born in the west, in what you would call the neck to a Squalus Tribe mother and a Linowan riverboat captain turned sea trader. Days after I turned 10 years of age my father was betrayed by his own crew and in defending my mother my sister and a young me he was killed in front of my own eyes. My mother and sister sold into slavery, I was forced into pit fights and gladiatorial combat to line the new captains pockets with jade...
I learned to fight only for the sake of survival, I was driven only by the hope that I may one day find my remaining family. When many years had passed I at last escaped my captors only after I killed the captain and set fire to the ship. I stayed in a small town for a time, and traveled the rest, learning and searching for anything that might lead me to my mother and sister. When I discovered that Nexus was a good place to learn what may have happened to my family I traveled there and infiltrated the guilds ranks... I found my mother in nexus 3 years later.
*He paused, overcome again by memories.*
A few weeks later during an escape attempt she and several slaves were killed at which point I Exalted while leading a few hundred slaves to take their own freedom... At that moment when the sun spoke to me I felt invincible, so many things that were once a mystery became clear to me, my mind became focused, and I instantly understood what it meant to be free. And I knew that I would have to rise above all the tragedy, pain, and darkness in my past to live, and lead by example.
Freedom, is the strength of ones mind, body, and soul and their ability to achieve anything. When a person realizes that through them anything is possible, and beside them another stands to rise to the same challenge there is not a single moment of chaos, only the instantaneous inspiration to achieve wonders...
Bonds are forged of unquestioning confidence in their brothers and sisters beside them. That is freedom! It is inspiration! and my friends... it holds limitless beauty!
*Dals entire body glowed with splendorous golden light, his every motion powerful, and each word more stirring than the last. His radiant form stood with his arms lifted out to each side like a glorious god welcoming all to the safety of his light. He slowly lowered them and smiled gently.*
"That at the least is the key to guiding people to live their own life of freedom. Knowing that they, whatever their situation, are capable of doing great things for themselves and for the world."
*With a gesture of his hands, he offered to guide the two further along in their tour, upwards to the training facility.*

* Honored Brother's poker face made him a hard one to read, but still he listened silently to the sad tale of Dal's life, nodding every so often.
* Mild Magma also listened intently, but his thoughts were far more readable. by the look on his face, he was not sure weather to believe this story or not... it had all the feeling of sincerity in it, but he was also indoctrinated to believe that the Anathema were master liars and could not be trusted no matter what they said.
This ordeal was definitely a test of ones faith*
Honored brother spoke when Dal motioned for them to follow, the string of jade prayer beads wrapped around his arms jingling softly as he moved*
" I see. You have suffered much in your life, Admiral Dal'Lumen. I can see why you were chosen, if indeed that is what happens... just be sure that power does not allow you to forget who you are and where you come from.
a few times do I find myself asking the 'Honored Brother' I used to be what it is I should be doing. As you age your circumstances change and your power grows. I am just saying this to remind you... The things that crafted Creation were great and powerful beings themselves... but having great power does not always grant the understanding nor the restraint to handle it properly."
* He nodded, then looked over his shoulder, back at the meditation room as he followed, then turned back to Dal*
" I am sorry you suffered so much, Admiral Dal'Lumen. I suppose we all find the path of the monk after the harshest trials of life."

"Bah! You have no need to apologize, I have seen the darkness in this world first hand, it serves as a reminder to me every day that the world needs my power, It is not something meant for selfish ambition."
*He lowered his head in thought as he walked up the next flight of stairs to the Dojo.*
"Your advise rings true without any doubt. I have a hard time believing that I could live anywhere near as long as my predecessor; 1500 years old and still considered young. How can I say for sure the man I will be when every mortal, Dragon-Blood and several generations of their descendants are gone... yet like this ancient manse I still stand unmoved by the infinite march of time. All I can do is live as the man I am today and continue to serve creation, doing any and all the good I am capable of."
*Upon reaching the top of the stairs a cool breeze carrying mist from the manses fountains washed over the trio, and before them lay a fully equipped training facility, not unlike any other room in the manse it was lavish and elegantly designed in spite of it's martial purpose. At this moment in time however there were only a few people in the room, most were simply exercising or developing their technique in the off hours of the Dojo. The five or so of them, two women and three men, stopped what they were doing immediately and turned to the door to bow to their master. Dal smiled at the group and nodded, letting them get back to work.*
"This is where I train martial artists for the police and navy forces of the city, as you can see right now this is a small group, the Dojo will be this way until the students are finished working in the fields for the day. Right now these warriors help clean up my Dojo and get it ready for the others later in the day in exchange for extra hours of training, and more personalized instruction from either me or the Oat Field god Quie-Ra who never misses a chance to make people work hard and grow stronger."
"You asked about the styles I teach them here, I teach them snake style Kung Fu for it's traditionalism, with my own blend of techniques to apply in real combat, both self defense and civil protection. The plan is that as the most advanced students reveal themselves and learn to control essence, they will begin the path to learn supernatural styles such as Quie-Ra's Ill Lilly Technique, which is just one of the styles he is master of. I find that that technique in particular can be used with wonderful effectiveness in the police forces. Give them blunt wooden weapons armed with paralytic venom and it saves everyone from harm in the long run!"

* Honored Brother looked on at the five devoted followers who stayed here to train. dropping to one knee, Honored Brother placed his palm to the smooth floor of the training grounds. leaving it there for a few moments, then got to his feet and nodded. He smiled a little and moved to speak, but was soon stopped dead in his tracks by loud noises in the distance and the darkness that rolled in, blotting out the sunlight into a sort of twilight, hazy light, as if under a solar eclipse.
Honored Brother took a defensive attack position, getting low incase whatever it was that was making the ruckus made its way to the Manse*
" On your guard, Admiral Dal'Lumen, Something is coming here... and one of your followers is trying to hold them off!"
* Mild Magma leapt back, Taking a wide stance that could just as easily be offensive as defensive. A look of fear was on his face, as he had never been this close to a dangerous fight... and if Honored Brother told an Anathema to be on his guard... it must be dangerous*
* A few moments later, the battered divine form of Quie-Ra was tossed up onto the the dojo floor. He rolled twice, then stopped himself with his elbow and rocked himself back onto his feet.
Out of thin air, a glowing spear with glowing images of oats floating through it appeared in the hands of the bruised and injured field god, not willing to give up against whatever it was that was coming*
" Admiral! Get out of here as fast as you can! I can hold it off for you!"
* A blur of black and orange streaked through the air, then landed hard and solid on the roof of the manse.
It took only an instant to realize that this huge muscular being was the war form of Kahn.
She bared her teeth as she pointed to Quie-Ra*
" Let me tell you something Quie-Ra! I didn't come here to fight a field god. I am here to make good on a threat I made to Admiral Dal'Lumen. Now I am here to bring on the pain!"
* Though as barbaric as she normally was, Kahn was nowhere near as brutish and 'flashy' in her human form as she was in her war form. (Think professional wrestler).
Kahn then turned her gaze from the oat spirit and onto Dal. She gave a toothy grin as she punched her fist into her free hand, giving almost a silent threat as her body shifted and warped back down into the shape of a beautiful tattooed eastern woman with orange stripes in her hair.
Just as quickly as her form changed, her attitude changed too*
"Admiral Dal'Lumen. I am shocked that you have not answered any of my calls, and so I have come here in person... and to my amazement, it looks like your very manse fears me.... after all, look at the skies... and listen to the sounds in the air."
* If one were to listen, they could hear the slow steady beat of a drum, almost like the sounds of a precursor to a war.
The sun was now a pale yellow disk in the sky, amidst a thick haze that seemed almost as if it could be cut.*

*Dal'Lumen had not readied himself as the others had, though he did look up at the sky thoughtfully, not quite sure what to make of this strange phenomenon. When the battered Quie-Ra appeared followed by Kahn a sigh escaped his throat; he smiled anyway.*
" Hello Kahn!" *He said through sly eyes and a narrow grin.*
"Welcome to Beziar... Though I wish you hadn't beat up our field god on your way in."
*He stepped forward with confident paces until he was just outside of arms length from her, staring her down as much as she was him. The sight of the two standing in front of each other with an intensity that only occurs when two martial arts masters face each other and the entire world around them holds it's breath in anticipation.*
"I apologize for not replying to any of your messages, you can't imagine how busy I've been. As you can see, these two monks from the blessed isle have come to our empire to understand Exalted like us... I was just about to take them on a tour of the city."
*He looked up at the sky.*
"Though now the weather isn't as nice, and I haven't any idea why it seemed to change with your presence... I don't suppose we can postpone our fated showdown any longer?"

* Kahn sighed, putting her hands on her hips, tilting her axis slightly as she looked between the field god, the monk and the child, then back to Dal. She shook her head, then rolled her eyes, pushing an orange lock of hair out of her face*
" Still afraid? Well you should be... because when it happens, its going to be the scariest thing you have ever experienced.... and for your information, it was your lackey, Quie-Ra who attacked me first!"
* Kahn pointed at the spear toting god accusingly*
* Quie-Ra lowered his stance, readied to strike at any moment as he held his spear like a pool cue.*
" Admiral, don't take this woman so lightly!... I knew this Lunar. She murdered you in one of her past lives, and ever since then has sought to do the same to you in every incarnation! You can't trust her... she is a dangerous beast!"
* Honored Brother's posture relaxed as they spoke like old neighbors, taking a moment to let out a deep breath that raised the temperature of the dojo by ten degrees for a few seconds... it was only when Quie-Ra began to speak did he take pause*
" An ancient vendetta spanning incarnations?..... But look how she blots the skies and brings ghostly drums with her presence. This is the work of true Anathema! A follower of the demon Erembour... or the underworld! It is the job of good men and women to end the influences of ruinous powers in Creation"
* The eyes of Honored Brother began to glow with red inner fire as did the top layer of his skin. The heat of the area once more raised a few degrees as Honored Brother's display continued*
" But it is up to you Admiral Dal'Lumen... I am a patient man... and if you all live as long as you say, I will have a good long time to rid the world of the darkness with the glowing embers of righteousness."
*Mild Magma Calmed down, smiling as he looked on at the beautiful tiger woman, surrounded by powerful martial artists.. not to mention an Honored Brother who was in 'Anathema Slayer Mode'.*
" I think I could tame here if given a sack of granola and a cup of maiden's tea."
* Without missing a beat, Honored Brother spoke up in reference to Mild Magma's comment*
" That just earned you triple time training until the Fire Ascends."
" Kill? I am not going to kill anyone.. and I don't know what a 'Errand Boar' is... and to insinuate that I am in some way working with anything in The Underworld is an insult!"
* She bared her teeth, at both the god and the monk, looking less like a deadly predator and more like a sexy model posing for a painting
But all it took was the comment of the teenage monk to take her from angry lunar, to laughing guardian.
" You really think so, little monk?... but don't your vows keep you from seeing if such acts could turn a tiger into a house kitten?
If only more of your kind took such vows... maybe this world could be easier saved"
* *
" Admiral! Get out of here as fast as you can! I can hold it off for you!"

"You're not helping our case much here Kahn... see how upset you have everyone?"
*He chuckled and thought about what Quie-Ra had said. His eyes never left Kahn, a casual confidence and a smile in his eyes and mouth so subtle it seemed natural.*
"A wise master never takes any opponent lightly. If that is the case Quie-Ra, and she has come to try to add me to her cosmic score board then you nor any other force would dissuade Kahn from confrontation with me, it is only a matter of time before it all comes down. Kahn, you certainly have the potential to be a dangerous person given that you allow yourself to act upon every impulse... You know what I think? You simply desire immediate satisfaction, yes? That is where our personalities draw a stark contrast."
*He smiled coolly*
"So tell you what, how about we each make a small compromise, If you promise to be nice to Quie-Ra, my manse, everyone and everything in it you can stay here, or enjoy my city until I return this evening. We can continue where we left off, and I will accept whatever challenges you pose to me... The evening after all is the best time of day for men and women to sort out their differences is it not?"
*He was sure that the Immaculates were no where near ready for someone like Khan. It would be a hard sell to try to explain her when they were just beginning to accept him, and he had the advantage of sharing common ground in lifestyle. Eventually perhaps when they had opened their eyes a little wider, but for now he would have to play diplomat. He hoped that perhaps if he laced his words with enough temptation that she would calm down and go away long enough for him to deal with the monks.*

* Kahn's face contorted slightly as Dal accused her, putting both fists on her hips and tilting forward slightly*
" Not helping what cause? Quie-Ra attacked me first! I just came here to see if you were ready for the inevitable... and I am no nicer or meaner to anyone than they deserve! If somebody attacks me, I defend myself!"
I am not here to kill anyone and least of all am I here in service to Walker in Darkness or Mask of Winters, or any other Despicable malignant underworld forces....."
* She stopped for an instant at Honored Brother's words.. being the easily distracted type she was. she smirked and gave a little nod*
" So it was you who killed 'The Quill Tyrant'. He plotted along side Ma-Ha-Suchi to murder the people of The Scavenger Lands... I was worried he would start with my people, but it seems you took care of him before I had to... good work."
* She looked back between the others who stood here, then remembered what was going on, her expression shifting back to that of insult*
" You don't know anything about me, Dal. I was going to leave without a fuss anyway.
And instant gratification? That is for city dwellers!
* She leaned forward a little more, taking her left fist off her hip and pressing it to her chest*
" I am a barbarian! I grew up having to work hard for everything I got! I know patients very well!... I am also a survivor and an opportunist as well... if I find a simple way to get my needs met, I do so, because that means easier survival!
I don't do things just to do them, Dal' Lumen... I do them in the pursuit of survival!"
* She tapped the leather sole of her boot on the jade tile of the dojo floor, then turned around for the edge of the roof, stopping for only a moment*
" I'll be back later tonight then, Admiral... You have a lot to learn about the people around you!"
* She sighed, then leapt off the top of the Manse. As she departed, so did the haze and the war drums*

*Dal simply raised an eyebrow as Khan leaped off the top of his manse. He turned and looked around at the faces behind him.*
"Well ok then I wasn't expecting that response but hey, I'll sort it all out later. She is a hard one to get to know I'm still not quite sure what to make of her. So then how about we continue and I can show you the city center where you can see the school I helped build, the Temple which was also built to be a light house and then I think you will be free to move about the city as you please, perhaps you could learn something about me by talking to the people I serve and protect!"
*He figured moving the conversation along quickly and changing subjects as if what had happened had been nothing to worry about would be best.*
"Quie-Ra please take some time to recuperate, I'll be back later..."
*He ushered the Dragons on, prepairing to lead them down the stairs and into the city.*

* Mild Magma frowned as he watched the tiger woman leave in such a state, sighing softly as another bout of boldness washed over him*
" Am I the only one who feels bad now?..."
* Honored Brother shook his head, patting the boy on his back*
" I am afraid not, Mild Magma... it seems as though I have acted hastily"
* Honored Brother's eyes stopped glowing as the dojo cooled down to its normal temperature.
The monk shook his head as his eyes closed*
" Those were the words of The Immaculate Order... not Hesiesh. Yet another lesson to not assume darkness when uncertainty is abound... from now on, I will not act until the light of Hesiesh's flame burns away all of doubt's shroud... until that happens, I hope I will see that Kahn woman again and give her my sincere apology."
He shook his head once more, then turned his gaze to Dal, giving him a nod as his token monk expression returned to his face*
" Yes, let us continue"
" Don't worry about me, Dal.. I am not flesh and blood like you. Even if my body is destroyed, I will just grow a new one in the Manse in a few short weeks."
*The field god dispersed his spear in a flash of white light, nodding once before giving a bow to Dal, Honored Brother and Mild Magma*
" I will be taking my leave of the material for now. But I will have my senses on you for as long as you remain within the manse or the fields... fear not"
* His body then faded into nothing as he dematerialized, finding his natural state far more comfortable to heal in*

*Before descending down the stairs with the dragons Dal looked over his shoulder and to the ledge that Kahn had disappeared over minutes before. Perhaps Kahn was more sensitive than he had anticipated, he was not pleased that she had been met with so much hostility but he was convinced that it was only natural considering her entrance. He would have to think about how to interact with her later tonight when he would have a better chance to explain everything to her.*
"Ok, let's get moving"
*He puzzled over the the last few moments and how he could spin it so the dragons would understand. He continued on with small talk while leading them down through his manse and in the direction of the heart of the city. When after a fairly long walk, and the Temple and school were within sight he got back on subject.*
"It is interesting that you met Kahn, Lunars are always a bit of a mystery to me, each one I meet seems to be more so than the last. To say the least they are as diverse in personality and ability as their connection with the animal kingdom would suggest. They make powerful allies, and interesting friends, yet their bestial nature can frequently drive them to change mood faster than wind changes direction in a northern sea storm... All depending on their animal aspect of course. There are many Lunars here in Imperveress, I highly suggest getting to know them as well!"
*They were now standing in the bustling heart of the city, to the north on the top of a cliff facing the river stood the two towering arms of the Temple, the hands open wide embracing the sky, and perhaps a few days out of the year they would seem to align with the morning, noon, and Setting sun. The whole area was more open than the rest of the city, a small open park sat in the center of it all, a respite where religious followers, students, and traders alike could find respite in the shady trees and grass while interacting with one another. As to be expected the place was indeed filled with all sorts, going about their daily business. The city itself was full of music and art, and the entire path they had taken in getting there was rarely without craftsmen, artisans and musicians lining the streets. The nature of the city and it's people could easily be compared to a city like New Orleans. Also throughout the city sturdy looking police patrolled the streets, each bowing to Admiral Dal'Lumen their teacher and commander as he passed.
Dal smiled and presented the city center to the two.*
"Here we are, there is still some development to be done here but one day this will be a major hub for festivals and city wide activity. Out in the water and on the docks will spring up a flourishing center of trade, and business!"

*Both Honored Brother and Mild Magma followed Dal out of the Manse and into the city once more.*
" I have had a few run ins with those you call 'Lunars'. I have seen their erratic behavior first hand, but before, it was always destructive...
But from what I have experienced in my youth, the heart of a woman is a thing subject to change, much like a Lunar. I can only imagine what a combination of the two might produce.... especially in fits of anger..."
* Honored Brother took note of the people's attitude to the Solar, not to mention the structures he had seemed to have sanctioned for build.
A lighthouse perhaps? this far inland? Only first age structures could shine that far.. interesting*
" So this and the seaside town are sister cities? One taking care of the land, the other living off the sea? I suppose a single entity could be split through multiple places, though it is not mentioned in any tomes of statecraft.
I have seen a little of the city of Kideshen, and heard of the others. Are the other three cities like this?
And as for growth, what plans to you have for the future of Bezair?"

"Beziar's duel city layout is the only one of it's kind in Imperveress, and even more so, it is the only city in such a key economic position. With both the ability to sustain itself on the land and the sea Beziar is in the perfect position to act as a trade and agriculture superpower in this Empire... Not to mention we harvest and supply the Entire Empires salt reserves! The Emperor Ress and I have hired a specialist to help establish a network of trade throughout the empire and out into the rest of the world. I'm sure you noticed the great many restaurants, and pubs throughout the city which also offers potential for revenue through tourism. Business owners have a lot of options in a place like Beziar, and the abundance of food is just one way for us to help the rest of the world!"
*He leaned his back up against a tree.*
"My plans for Beziar... Well... I hope to build a great city that will become renowned for it's martial artists, it's freedom, religion, diplomacy, and economy... Let's not forget great food! That being said we are on our way to being a cultural superstar... And perhaps when our city has a strong enough influence over the scavenger lands and it's culture we can lead the way to abolishing slavery!"
