*as dusk fell over the manse, Saia sat in the courtyard finishing up a polishing session of her grand daiklaive. A shining and clean grand goremaul leaned against the bench she was sitting on, the Orichalcum of both weapons glinting in the receding light. In response to the dimming day, the lamps around the courtyard came to life, illuminating the area well.

Not long after the lights came on, she heard a strange alien chittering. It was unlike any sounds the local wildlife made, and seemed to surge up from the direction of her manse. Instantly suspicious, the Dawn tossed the cleaning cloths and polish onto the bench and took a weapon in each hand, standing up attentively. Saia called out in the commanding tone used with her reluctant troops, demanding their obedience*

Come out! This is no time for games.

* After she spoke, she would see many dark figures scamper out from the manse and into the fields, where they fanned out through the wheat and in the direction of the city.*

[Saia]

Wow, did not see that coming. Hey! Stop!

*Saia started a quick jog after the horde of darkness, wanting some answers, though she was ready for battle. She could feel the blood in her body pump harder as it reacted to the potential danger of the situation*

* Eight of the shadowy figures stopped and turned around, slithering over to Saia. As they moved, the illusion of shadows lifted off them as if they pulled black sheets from off them.

Underneath were beings of eldrich horror.
Each one stood at six feet and were a deep purple color. From the waist up, they were vaguely humanoid with gelatinous, hairless bodies, long thin arms and seven tubular fingers. their heads were warped and seemingly void of any sensory organs. The mouth on the creatures was the largest feature they had, both covered with writhing tentacles and riddled with fangs and two protruding tusks.
The lower part of these creatures was like that of a giant squid, with eight powerful arm like tentacles which writhed and whipped as they peered on at the Solar*

[Saia]

*Saia slowed her jog to a stop and licked her lips before speaking. Damn these things were ugly! It took her a bit not to say that out loud, just in case they weren't trying to kill her. To judge on appearances, that didn't look likely, but they weren't attacking her just yet. She studied them as they did her, and kept her grip on both weapons ready while appearing relaxed*

(Riverspeak) Do you understand me? Why are you here and in so many numbers?

* the subterranean horrors undulated their gelatinous bodies as they leered at Saia. The creatures were silent, unlike some of the others that chittered and hissed around them.
Slowly, the eldrich aberrations began closing in on Saia*

*Saia raised her grand daiklaive and pointed it at the closest one, her grand goremaul sliding back behind her on the ground and onto the back of her heel*

* The creatures then mobilized for the attack*

*Saia sighed a bit as they came after her, recognizing that these were some of the stronger, more intelligent of their kind. Or the stupid ones, if they were attacking her. At this point, she couldn't be entirely sure...*

* The first of the eldrich horrors lunged forward, his long whipping tentacles lashing out forward in an attempt to wrap around her, all the while closing in so that he might bite her savagely with his giant, fanged maw*

Calibration 1,

*As it lunged for her, Saia tossed her grand daiklaive over her head, letting the motion take her off her feet, with a little push from the ground as well. As she shifted, the grand goremaul slipped off of her heel and thudded to the ground. Using the hand holding the hammer, she pushed herself into the air, coiling into a tight ball for a backflip, the head of the hammer slipping through the coiling tentacles just before they closed around her and her weapons. Saia loosened and let her legs drop and catch her as she met the earth, putting a few feet of distance between her and those teeth. A quick count of the group brought a grin to her face. Only five, but that was just fine for her. A bit of fun before a real fight this week. Mentally she teased herself that she couldn't take down each one with a single blow and that she might have to go back for seconds. The competitor inside took herself on as she surged forward for the kill.
Stepping forward, she twisted one foot in front of the other and rotated quickly in place, creating a tight spin where she raised her hands into the air holding both weapons. Throwing her grand daiklaive high into the sky, Saia bent gently from her spin, bringing down the enormous hammer to strike forcefully against the creature in front of her. As it crushed down on the shadowy creature's form, a shockwave went out and hit each of the remaining beasties in their midsections, rattling their insides*

* When the shockwave hit the horrors, they exploded in a fountain of gore, spraying blood and ichor in all directions. their tentacle lower half's writhed and tremor until they fell limp and lifeless on the ground. The tide of darkness continued to pour out from the manse.

A low growl could be heard from every direction at once, a voice following close behind*

" Stay out of our business Solar!... I dealt with you enough in my life.. Especially who you USED to be!.... Don't trifle with me or our plans!!"

[Saia]

*Saia wiped off the gore from her armor, mumbling about how she had just polished it as the voice began speaking. Her lip curled into an amused smile as the disembodied voice spoke its ire*

Technically you are meddling in my business, so you can't really be angry that your flunkies were slaughtered. You should look for smarter foot soldiers. You can't honestly think that you wouldn't have run into me if your plans are very widespread. Besides, someone might be beating my body count for this week. I'm only at five... Then again, the week is young, isn't it beast?

[Ress]

* Down from the sky dropped a tanned westerner wearing a coolie hat and a set of baleful green Lamellar armor. He dropped to one knee when he landed,creating a small crater from the force of landing. As he got to his feet, he grinned wickedly, His pointy teeth and long beard made him look like an evil lion man. The man was large and very muscular, but a soft pulsing glow below his skin would betray that this size was of unnatural origins. (Anyone else picturing a cross between Samurai Jack and The Scottsman?) He pointed a clawed finger at Saia and cackled evilly*

" So here you are, Ancient Queen. Dirtying your hands cleaning up another's empire? It is laughable!... but I am glad you are here.. I can now settle an old debt. Any last words, Merela's shadow?"

* In a single motion, he retrieved two daiklaives from scabbards on his back*

*As a huge glowing green man fell out of the sky to land in front of her, Saia thought he might be a demon frog. But alas, it was a weird, pointy, obviously insane man-beastie. At his fronting and intimidation tactics, her lip curled in a cruel parody of a smile, directed right into his eyes. In response to him calling twin blades, she licked her lips and lifted her weapons too large to be wielded one-handed with ease, tilting her head at him. With every heartbeat she could feel her blood pumping up again from its momentary lull between fights, filling her muscles with a natural power separate from her exalted nature. This might just be a fight to make her blood sing*
