Ascending Fire 30,
*invigorated with new opportunities and the drive to exploit them, Ame gathered her things and started laying out a map of the empire and marking where the cities were. Next she made marks for the waterways and calculated times for the travel of caravans and realized that having an internal trade system was unnecessary in Imperveress. As long as the people knew about them they could be at a new city in a matter of minutes and get their products straight from that city. With that in mind she decided to just make it known that the option was open to the rest of the empire. Maybe later when the empire became lazier, which she saw as inevitable, she could rework the route. Until their innovations picked up, though, and people were still willing to walk to a waterway this was the ideal option.
With that map out of the way she posted it on the wall in her sitting room, which was also serving as her office, she picked up the map of Creation that she always kept on her and started a list of potential other cities to trade with. There was always the obvious Lookshy, Great Forks, etc. Gem looked like it could be useful, too, as well as most of the cities in the world. Slowly, though, she reminded herself, no need to stretch too thin and make mistakes. Under each city she thought was the most useful right away she wrote in their potential exports that Imperveress might need as well as what she thought Imperveress could offer them that they would like or need. The whole process took Ame more time than she would have liked, but with Ress still not here it didn't really make much of a difference in her timeline. She had plans to present him and no other Dragon-Blooded to associate with right now so the Water Aspect found herself both bored and anxious at the same time.
With time to kill now, Ame decided that she would go tour the cities, one a day until Ress came back, and make friends with the citizens, and possibly find out more information that might help her find out if they were at that point where they didn't want to leave the city for what would be imported items or if they were still willing to travel. There was the possibility that this could go outside of sheer laziness for them, and that they would actually be best benefited by imports available in their local markets. If that was the case maybe she could keep it that way. In that case, she needed to figure out a schedule for the caravans with products to go through the waterways, and another for above ground just in case those rivers were actually restricted to something specific for a reason. With a new project she jumped right in, ignoring the beginnings of hunger in her excitement to start. This was going to be a long few nights and the thought made her sigh with anticipation*
