Resplendent Wood 3
An hour or so after Dal had discussed his plans with his loyal followers he was running back through Beziar at full speed, wherever he went. Most of the citizens would not notice him on the rooftops high above, running as fast as a horse in full gallop, leaping more than sixteen spans of a mans arm to the next rooftop when his path required it.
He watched the streets below, the vendors and entertainers drawing crowds to witness, dream and spend their hard earned money. The most exciting, and convincing were rewarded with the praise, and payment. It occurred to Dal lumen, that to win over the heart of Imperveress, he couldn't simply do it one man, woman, and child at a time, he had to be able to draw the attention of a crowd. He had to make them feel everything as he felt it, to believe what he said as he believed it, or at least how he needed them to.
He felt a change within himself, and he was confident that he knew exactly how he could be the man that the people listened to. He simply needed to play the common notes of the human soul, to build a symphony of peace and prosperity.
The Manse was in sight, and Dal was airborne. He Soared through the air like a pouncing leopard, and landed gracefully at the doorway to his new home, the great dwelling place of ancient rulers of legend, the Beziar Manse. He walked inside, still in awe of it's existence. He walked right inside, Waved at Quie-Ra and made a Bee line straight to the reflective glass surface in the bathroom, where he spent the next several hours like a lunatic; speaking to himself in the mirror, making wild hand gestures, dancing around and singing. When he was sure Quie-Ra had enough of the noise, he began rehearsing how he would present evidence, and try to win over the favor of all that witnessed on the day of the trial.
It wasn't long before every aspect of the way that he presented himself was flawless, from the intonation in his voice, his posture, and even the smallest details of every movement he made.
Dal Stopped abruptly, gave himself a good hard stare in the mirror, and uttered in a serious tone.
"Perfect. Bring it on Mongoose..."
Moments later... He smiled and collapsed into his bed only to spend the night thrashing about until he woke up again to the screaming horrors in his nightmares.
Clearly, even here in Imperveress Dal was still haunted by the past.
