Resplendent wood, 3
The room was silent, a single motionless figure lay upon the bed sprawled out, surrounded by the tangled sheets he had warred with early in the night.
*Dal's eyes opened quickly, as if he had been startled awake by something. His body did not move but he glanced around the room before sitting up quickly. He turned his head and looked all over the room giving it a quick check for any intruder. The nights sleep finally caught up with him, and he winced and rubbed his eyes trying to wake the nerves in his face up.*
It had been some time since last he slept so hard, but the memories of a strange dream; or a half awake daydream came back to him - it was hard to remember exactly what had happened in it, but he remembered a lot of light, and a few echoes of the conversation he had had with it.
*Dal, having convinced his face, and body that he was awake, and they needed to be too, turned and placed his feet on the cold pearl floor and pushed himself up to standing.*
"What was that...." *Ugh* he groaned and half staggering, started to head for the bedrooms exit. It had been a while since he had slept so hard, he felt ready to take on anything! Just as soon as he mastered walking again, and got some breakfast.

* No sooner did Dal leave his room, was he confronted by a shaft of light, then the glowing golden figure of the first age gaurdian spirit known as Sentinel.
His left hand was balled into a fist at his side as his right arm was half bend and held out with his palm open.
The image of Imperveress swiftly appeared in his hand, then magnified into the waters of West Bezair. A flashing 'X' appeared in the water*
" Mister Dal'lumen! We are under attack in West Bezair... I believe it was the horrible mistake of a giant black squid!"

*Dal'Lumen Staggered backwards at the appearance of the light comprised entity, half thinking his dream had not been simply a dream after all. Catching himself with a firm hand upon the door frame he had just exited, he pushed himself back forward to address Sentinel, he blinked rapidly and tried for a grin which ended up looking more like a grimace.*
"Oh, uhm... hey.... WHAT! So soon? B...But I haven't even had breakfast yet, it's the crack of dawn!" *He said sarcastically*
"Ugh... ok, so make sure to inform the others; we meet at the armory the faster we put this down, the less time they have if they were planning something else it's up to you to keep an eye on things, and Sentinel... which way do I go, whats the best way to get to the armory quickly? Arachnias manse? We could gather the others up and pile them all in her manse to save time..."

" I agree Mister Dal'lumen. I will report to Arachnia immediately. Wait here, we should be back soon."
* In yet another shaft of golden light, Sentinel dissapeared into nothingness, no doubt spirited away to the Imperial manse to see Arachnia and have her manse brought taxi everyone.*
* Standing in the archway of Dal's room, Quie-Ra looked on with a puzzled look on his face and a bowl full of steaming hot oatmeal. He blinked once, before stepping forwatd and holding out the bowl for Dal to take*
" Here... you will need this for strength... wish there was something else I could do to help."

Dal crossed his arms and leaned against the wall waiting for Sentinel to return, and grinned at Quie-Ra. Clapping him hard on the shoulder, and scooping up the bowl of oat meal. Dal secretly wondered if he should ask Quie if he heard or noticed anything odd from his room that night.
*It was just a dream...* He told himself
"Thank you my friend, when I am the one to tare this secret weapon apart, it will be your oats that we call ours! *He said heartily, as he began to wolf down the hot mash.*
"I wou' shay leshs have ourselvesh ah warm up spar, bu' I douht we wull have time for thahd; Sentinel is pretty shook up... I hope nobody got hurt."
*He finished the sentence only after swallowing midway through it. Steam in the cold air issued from his mouth in little puffs as he spoke.*

*Quie laughed at Dal's comment, hunching over and propping himself up with his hands on his thighs. With a sigh, he got back upright, heaving a sigh as he calmed himself*
" If only, Dal. Once I get my promotion, I will be right out there with you, fighting the good fight against whatever is out there.
As the god of coarse grains, I will have underlings and the strength to look a demon in the eye... or the War God of the Scavenger Lands... maybe even the Imperveress god of health.
Maybe I shouldn't feel this way... but I am not content simply being the god of the oat fields."

Dal had all but licked his bowl clean by the time Quie was done talking.
*Dal nodded knowingly*
"And you should'nt need to be content! Ambition is what a growing empire demands, and we need all the strong hands we can get to pull this place together... I mean, how long have you been doing this gig... five hundred; a thousand years? I think you fit the bill!"
*A mischevious smile creased his face*
"A tougher sparring partner might be nice to have around." *He teased*
"What would it take to get you promoted, I guess im in good with the big guy *He pointed up* I could put in a good word with your...uhm... boss god? Not to mention I would have you hand pick your successor!"

* Quie chukled once more, then gave a nod*
" You know... the god above me, I have not seen in maybe two thousand years or so... I barely remember what he looks like... I simply hand off oat production every month to his elementals, then be done with it... I could imagine a recommendation by an Exalt or two would help a lot in getting a promotion... if you can track down the Censure of the Scavenger Lands, she could help too.... heh... and if there were some way, by chance... you could get The Unconquered Sun, Luna and Venus to endorse me as well, I would be a shoe in for just about any position.
And yes, smart ass... I would be a fighter that could surpass you."

He tapped his foot impatiently in this calm before the storm, not knowing what was going on, or how bad the attack was enough to make Dal restless. At least he had Quie to talk to...
"Ah, well we will just see about that! When this is all over with - getting you promoted will go on my to do list. You have waited a thousand years, think you can wait a couple more months, if even that? I mean, what do you do in here all day, other than pick fights and make delicious food?"
*Dal winked and chuckled*
"So far all I have done here is project myself to other places, and sleep... or try to, and have dreams; weird dreams. Flying stone hearts... Talking flying stone hearts... I had this dream that the heart thing I found in Taris' head yesterday was talking to me, and asking me for help, it was the strangest thing."
Feeling a bit idle Dal couldn't help but change the subject a couple times.
"Wonder what my war strider will be like..."

* Quie nodded.. taking in the strange story that Dal had told*
" It sounds like that meeting last night had you shaken up, if you are having those kind of nightmares...
And you want to know my daily duties?!?"
* Quie sighed, rolled his eyes and began to motion out everything he said, giving it a bit of emphasis as to how much he disliked his position*
" Yes, first thing I do is make breakfast... Exalt need to eat... that's how thing used to be under Bo-Ki-Sa-Chi. Then I go out and check the oat fields, taking note of how many plants, how many stocks on those plants, how much those socks grow, and how many oats they produce daily. I take those reports and I leave them out for my superior's elementals to take. I then stay on the look out for any demons or agents of heaven who might come by. While I keep a look out, I practice my martial arts and sometimes, I go out into Bezair under disguise and spend time with the people..... you know, things got rather lonely around here when the Empire was closed. Things are better now..... but till, everything is a pale reflection of our days under Bo-Ki-Sa-Chi's rule..... even when he was...... not himself... that is basically my day in a nutshell. not boring.. but very tedious."

Dal once again nodded, picturing himself counting grains of oat. A cringe crossed his face that grew and grew as his imagination took him away and put him in Quie-Ra's place.
"Wow.... I don't think I could ever do that, you say it's not boring but I would have to protest. We will get you a new job, don't worry. Though, I do enjoy the breakfast you keep bringing me!"
Dal Set the bowl down and began loosening up from the stiffness of the night, a few basic stretches that eventually became shadow boxing.
"Errh.... I'll tell you what Quie *He Huffed and threw a couple dozen punches, and knife hands so quickly that his hands whistled and stirred the air around him.*
"You and me, we're going to keep training hard, I'll train with you every day. When things calm down a bit and I have time to hang around this place that is. We will make this Empire a better place, even better than you remember it."
*Dal scowled*
"I have dreams of my own..."
"This world is thirsty, emaciated, and struggling - with this jewel in the scavenger lands, we can help so many, and so long as I breath life, I will never give up hope that some day, I will break the chains that bind others in slavery."
*Dal furiously sliced the air with the kicks and punches of some Kata, all the while he looked as if he were dancing, each strike grew more powerful with every word he spoke.*
"The decadents, and slavers that glut themselves on the blood and sweat, and tears of people that are treated as property to be bought and sold, as cattle... Those are the ones that have this land strangled with their cruel whips and chains. I will end that... Even if I have to shatter every single one of those chains with my bare hands!"
*His last word was followed by a huge flying kick, Probably a little more aerial than need be in a hallway, but all the same it was flawless, if not overpowered. He turned and faced Quie-Ra.*
"I will strangle the filthy blight that is slavery with its own chains if I have to..."
The hard anger in Dal's face quickly vanished, he closed his eyes and pressed his palms together, centering himself and breathing deeply. He opened his eyes and smiled gently at Quie, .
"I will make all of creation free..."

Resplendent Wood 3,
*As soon as Lirimana was in the manse, she could see Arachnia and Wise River standing in the entryway*
Now to Bezair to pick up Dal'Lumen and then to the Armory
*as soon as the doors had closed and settled the manse was moving again. It was a matter of minutes until they reached the point nearest Dal'Lumen's manse. When they were stopped, Arachnia shifted her weight and nodded to herself*
Please alert Dal'Lumen that we have arrived to escort him to the Armory

* A crackle of essence and a short hiss was the harbinger of Sentinel's voice, not bothering to manifest as present*
" Mister Dal'Lumen. Your escort to the Armory has arrived. Please make haste out the front entrance and into the Empress' manse."
* Quie nodded, crossing his arms across his chest as he looked all about for a reason yet unknown*
" Well... it looks like it is time to play hero. Be careful, Dal... I am not sure if I could stand breaking in another roommate. Maybe you could tell me more of your ideals when you come back with only minor injuries?.... heh, take care."

"Oh... My escort!"
Dal chuckled and gave Quie a parting bow.
"I'll be back soon. Thanks for Breakfast. Thank you Sentinel, I'll be right there."
Dal walked down the hall and crossed the threshold to the chilled morning air outside, in the shadow of his manse, and with the view of another directly ahead. He trotted off at a brisk pace, coming to the entrance and finally to the others that waited for him inside.
"Nice place you got here, lets head out!"
It was easy to tell Dal was not trying hard to withhold his excitement.

Resplendent Wood 3,
Yes, it is...
*Arachnia held in a sigh as the last of them walked in. She hated having all of these people in here. Part of her wished that she trusted them, and then there was the part of her that was glad that she didn't. After all, she hadn't known any of them long and Lirimana had already proved that she couldn't be left alone with Ress.. Either way, it boiled down to her watching them in the front hall of her manse as it gathered up the energy and transported them to the Armory*
We have arrived...
*as the manse settled and came to a stop the doors opened to let the passengers out*
