* Wave attempted to try this whistel... but having a solar blowing in your face the whole time really made it hard... and when the sonic boom happened, Wave stumbled backwards, shaking his head as he rubbed his ears with his palms* " Damn! couldnt you have pointed that elsewhere... like at the Wyld or something?.... maybe it would run away or something!"
" Thats great!!... now when you do this... spend a mote of essence and it will be complete!" * Cho-Hi-Xo nodded as he put his hands back on his hips, smirking proudly as this ancient bit of wisdom did not fall to the void*
* Wave then began trying, picking up right where he had left off. He had seen whistles like this, but not exactly so. After a hand full of windy attempts, he too whistled... but not nearly as loud as Dal's. Wave then looked around for anything... looking annoyed* " it didnt work.... I think he is messing with you"
"Ok, well perhaps if nothing else I can use it as a weapon... Wave, do it agian, this time give it a bit of essense." *Dal blew again, it seemed too hard was the only way he knew how, so again an explosive screech, howled from Dal, this time however, the slightest flash of golden sunlight could be seen burning for a moment behind Dals eyes. Dal looked around at Wave, waiting for something to happen.*
* in the sky, something began to stirr. A white mass descended quickly from overhead, getting larger and larger as it came closer, landing at Dal's feet after a matter of moments. What lay before him, was a mass of fluffy white clouds about three feet by three feet and about a foot thick. the mass of clouds flowed and purred as it sat there... obviously sentient*
" Yes! They still exist! Well then... there is your ticket straight up and onto the sky manse!" * Cho-Hi-Xo nodded as another one descended down at Wave's feet* " They are called Cumulus.. they are a type of air elemental that used to ferry people around in the first age"
"Huh... Would ya look at that." *Dal scratched his head and bent over to get a closer look at the puff of cloud that had so speedily displaced itself from the sky. He stopped scratching his head and took the same finger and poked at the puff cautiously.* "Cumulus huh, and you ride these things? Sounds Dangerous... but fun... mostly." *Dal stood up and put his foot on the broadest part of the cloud creatures back and weighed himself on it to make sure it wasn't going to give way.* "Ok... Nice Cumulus... just need a ride up..."
" Wow.... a cloud?! Im not sure if this is safe... but, if I do fall, its not going to be very far.... so..." * Wave stepped up onto the cloud, cautously, as he was not certian that this thing wasnt going to try to swallow him whole.*
* The cumulus were solid to stand on, and gave way only slightly for comfort reasons. As they were stepped on, the cumulus changed colors. Dal's became luminous and golden, as if the sun were showing through this cloud. Wave's on the other hand, became grey and increased in mass, becoming about twice as large and engulfing Wave up to his waist*
"It seems to like you!" * Dal looked down at his glowing cloud, unsure of what next might happen, but he figured what he might say next would help.* "Ok... Let's go?"
" Hey!... oh!... they are attuneing to us? wow... thats kinda neat!" * Wave & his cloud then began to float off the ground, smoothly and without stutter or akward manuverability. It then descended lower, finishing by moving in a sphere. Wave laughed as they moved in all directions* " Well look here! they are easy to ride! its almost like we are sharing thoughts! you gotta try this"
*Dal scratched his head again as his cloud didn't seem to be doing much at first. He had no idea how to ride a thing like this properly but as for standing on precarious surfaces it wouldn't be out of character at all for him. Dal puttered off the ground, he had his hands out on either side, settling down in a low profile as it began to leave the ground. "Kinda like something the older boys did on my island, I was too young and my mother wouldn't let me learn but that didn't stop me from trying...(3 sxs)
" Oh yeah? I know the sport... I was not allowed to join either. It was looked at as peasent and beneath us.. but I always wanted to. But lets get that hearthstone while we still have some daylight!!" * Wave ascended upwards into the sky, leaving behing the sound of his signature cheer* " Lets wash this mission clean!!"
*Dal tucked his bald head, and stream lined himself against the air and without much more forethought darted up past roaring Wave like a streak of bald headed brown red white and golden color.* "Wooo! Flying Cumulus!!"
* it did not take long untill the two arrived at the floating island. The Island was like an untouched gem in the sky. Much like the sunken platform, the island had a first age city on it, complete with huge highrises, elaborate parks, and of course, the manse. But upon closer inspection, something was definatly off*
*Dal slowed and hovered just on the edge of the island, close enough that if he wanted to he could step right onto the surface. * "Wave... somethings wrong here."
* Something was wrong indeed.... because this island was inhabited. The streets, the buildings.... even the sky had them! Though they looked much like northerners in color and build... there were no northerners that had wings... and yet here they were. When Dal and Wave stepped off the cumulus, the people stopped and watched them, feer and a bit of anger in their faces as they glared at these outsiders who had found their home. A few spear weilding winged ones flew down closer, but they kept their distance... just watching and waiting for now*
"... Something tells me that you and I are not celebrities here.... I dont know about these people....these... winged people." * Wave walked slowly forward and in the direction of the manse on this island. keeping one eye open for the armed winged ones around them*
*Dal held his hands out in a display of surrender. He also stayed atop his cumulus, staying a foot or so away from the edge of the flying city.* "Hello.* "He called out, loud and clear.* "We have come peacefully... We wish you no harm... I am Admiral Dal'Lumen, of the Empire below, and this is Roaring Wave, may we set foot on your home?"
* They said nothing, looking around at one another before backing off and away from the two exalts. Their wings were outstreched, as if ready to take flight at any second. They began to mumble to themselves in old realm, keeping onguard incase there was an attack, or they needed to defend*
*Dal looked at Wave, and then back at the many eyes upon him. He slowly, but cautiously stepped down onto the solid manse floor, one foot at a time. He then moved closer by a few steps, and got to his knees. There was a glow behind his eyes and a shaft of brilliant light preceeded the formation of the golden disk upon his brow. He also went as far as to slowly remove the two large axes on his back and put them down on the ground, sliding them away a few feet to show he did not plan to use them. He then repeated one of the only sayings he could remember in old Realm.* "Periseta, Da Sol"
* The winged people sneared when they heared these words, but stepped aside, letting them walk down the path on their idland to the manse. the spear weilding winged ones tossed their weapons on the ground, showing they were not going to cause a fuss, though begrudgingly so*
"Wow.... they really dont like strangers.... good thing you remembered that old realm phrase, otherwise we might have had to get rough..... as terrible as that would have been" * Wave sighed as he held onto the handle of his daiklaive as he took the path before him*
"Perhaps they have had bad past experiences..." *Dal slowly picked up his axes and returned them to his back, just for the sake of not leaving them unguarded in an unfamiliar place. He slowly stood up, with his hands out to either side, he gave a steep bow to the air people, displaying his gratitude. He gave an extra bow in the direction of the spear weilders that had dissarmed themselves. He walked beside wave zenfully, trying to appear as peaceful as possible.* "Stay sharp Wave, but don't act suspicious, we need to keep all available peace here, and perhaps we can find an authority figure to speak with."
" Speaking with them becomes difficult when we do not share a common language... maybe just taking cre ofour buinehere then coming back later for pleasentries is the way to go.... it feels too much like a potential uprising I had to deal with in The Neck to get comfortable.... " * it was obvious that Wave was uncomfortable being up here.. undoubtably because of the tense atmosphere from these winged natives. The city was much like the sunken city, except the roads were smalle and less quality, mostly because the inhabitants could fly where they needed to go. The hugh rise apartments also had large decks attached to each room to act as a landing pad. When they arrived at the manse, the would see many winged guards around it, not blocking their way in, but definatly showing their displeasure at the outsiders presence*
"Good evening." *Said Dal as he walked past the guards. He offered them a quick bow before passing completely.* "They may be letting us go to the manse unhindered, but I am more worried that we might do something taboo in their culture or perhaps even the fact that we plan to take the hearth stone with us will be seen as an insult, so for now i suggest we leave whatever we find in the manse alone, and gather only the hearth stone after I atune." *Dal pushed the doorway to the manse open and stepped inside cautiously, he felt strangely like he was walking into someones home when he wasn't sure who lived there.*
* The guads said nothing as Dal and Wave walked past, shaking their heads in annoyance. The funishings of the manse all looked far newer than those of the city manses, favoring brighter, more sky like colors rather than the earthier tones. As they got close to the hearthroom, they would see guards armored in blue jade, holding spears of the same material... perhaps honor or royal guards?*
"Admiral.... I get the feeling those guys back there were Exalts. this is eeming more dangerous the farther we go" * Wave went back to gripping his daiklaive, leaving it in its sheath, but ready at any moment to defend himself. He heaved a sigh a he continued walking, getting closer and closer to the hearthroom *
*Dal turned his head over his shoulder, looking at the jade clad guards out of the corner of his eye.* "Hmm... Let's just get Sentinel active and maybe he can translate for us... I'm with you, I have a bad feeling about this too. We need to be able to communicate, and the only option for that is to get sentinel up here, or maybe even have someone else project themselves up here to sort things out." *Dal drew near the entrence to the hearth room, he could see it just down at the end of the hallway, but he slowed his stride partialy, so he could gather his sense for what might be inside.* "Just stand watch at the door while i get this done as quick as possible Wave, if you notice anything strange alert me."
" You got it.... I have a charm waiting for just such an occasion, so dont worry " * It was hard to take a 'dont worry' seriously from someone as on edge as Wave... but its hard to argue with a successful charm*
* Passing beyond a large double door, they would see the hearthroom done up with tapestrys, a confrence table and many comfortable chairs... it seems this room was now used for city deliberations... but beyond the console, sitting at the far end of the table, was a winged person, dressed in heavy blue jade armor and decked out with a javeline in one hand and a daiklaive at his hip. he watched the two from a distance, his weapons at ready, but not looking threatenning as present*
" Thats great!!... now when you do this... spend a mote of essence and it will be complete!" * Cho-Hi-Xo nodded as he put his hands back on his hips, smirking proudly as this ancient bit of wisdom did not fall to the void*
